Friday, Sept 21, 8 pm at Centre Theater (208 Dekalb). "'Night, Mother" continues, presented by 1880 Theatricals. A round table discussion on suicide prevention will take place after tonight's show. The play finishes its run on Saturday at 8 pm. Tickets: https://www.davedirects.com/tickets

Saturday, 10 am at Eisenhower Middle School. Convoy of Hope. Free groceries, health and dental screenings, haircuts, family portraits, meals, etc. While supplies last. Hot lunch and live entertainment. Info at this link.

Saturday, 11 am at Montgomery Cemetery. How the Streets Got Their Names Cemetery Tour by the Historical Society. Walking tour of Historic Montgomery Cemetery that begins at 11:00 am followed by light refreshments inside the Cemetery’s gatehouse with a presentation from 11:45 am to 12:30 pm. Tickets for the event are $15 and include the walking tour, refreshments, and presentation. Tickets are limited to reserve a seat call 610-272-0297 or go online at hsmcpa.org to reserve your spot.

Tuesday, 7 pm, Zoning Board Hearing at Municipal Hall.

Wednesday, 8-9 am at Montgomery County Intermediate Unit (2 W Lafayette). Panel Discussion: Economic Impacts of the Cosby Trial. Hosted by the Greater Norristown Corporation. Panelists of local officials, business owners, and reporters will give their perspectives of how the area was able to take advantage of the national attention, as well as what could have been approved upon. With reports that a second trial will be occurring later this year, hopefully the feedback received can be used to our advantage to put our local area into a positive light. RSVP at this link.

Wednesday, 4:30-6 pm at the Norristown Library (Powell and Swede). Norristown Rocks. After finding painted rocks in a park in another community, a family in Norristown began painting rocks themselves to leave around town. This workshop expands on their efforts. Come paint your own rocks. Keep some for yourself or share them by placing them in public spaces for others to discover. When people find them, they can post a picture of their discovery to social media with the hashtag #norristownrocks. FREE workshop. Info and RSVP at this link.

Thursday, 11 am-2:30 pm on East Main in front of the Courthouse. The Norristown Farmers Market still continues every Thursday through Oct 26. Fall seasonal veggies and apples, farm fresh, plus baked goods (even gluten-free).

Next Saturday, Sept 30, 1-5 pm, The Norristown Project Fall Cleanup. Volunteers are needed to assist with cleaning, weeding, and mulching the flower beds around the trees in the downtown area. In addition to this project, volunteers will work on cleaning the sidewalks. Meet at the intersection of Main Street and DeKalb. Free street parking is available on weekends in the municipality. No Excuse to Stay Home Saturday

You'll take one look at the list below and say, "Ack! Everything's happening on Saturday this week." Almost true, but the times are accommodating enough that you can event hop pretty easily. Make a day of Norristown events. Four of them are even on the same street (Haws Avenue). I'm guessing more than one person arriving at Riverfest will have an All Saints' pie in their car trunk.

Friday, 9 am to 2 pm, Main Street in front of Courthouse, PARK(ing) Day. Check out the spaces created by the county planning office, the Municipality, the DEP and more. Find an empty space and create your own.

Friday,  10 am-12:30 pm, Catholic Social Services of Norristown (353 E Johnson Hwy), Baby Shower for pregnant women and mothers with babies under a year old. Information, food, raffles, gifts call Deborah, Doris or Judy at 610-279-7372 to RSVP.

Saturday, 7 am to 4 pm, Powell & Swede Sts. Habitat for Humanity's Rock The Block  According to the website, registration is required and the deadline was last Saturday, however, you can try contacting Nicole Pender at npender@habitatmontco.org or 610-278-7710 ext. 114 to see if they still need more. Saturday from 10 am-2 pm at All Saints Episcopal Church (535 Haws Ave), 4th Annual Pie Festival. Outdoor festival featuring lots of pie, bake sale, flea market (vendors wanted), kids’ games and activities. Proceeds benefit local food ministries and outreach. Only 2 blocks from Riverfest. Saturday, 11 am-2 pm, Open House at ACPPA Community Arts Center (506 Haws Ave, behind Grace Lutheran). Stop by to see their new stuff (new ballet barres, mirrors and technology) plus learn about their upcoming programs for kids and adults. Refreshments, arts and crafts, a photo booth, and tuition discounts for everyone who stops by. First 25 families get goody bags.

Saturday, 11 am-dusk, Riverfest at Riverfront Park (1 Haws Ave). Free Pirate Dragon Boat rides, kids games, dedication of new benches fashioned by ACPPA Arts Center, food for purchase, Flower Ceremony at 2 pm (Mercury Rizing band begins sets immediately afterward), Cardboard Boat Races at 3 pm,. Wear your pirate gear and come ready to shiver your timbers. Anyone who wants to participate in the Flower Ceremony should arrive by 1:30 pm. Saturday, noon-7 pm, Main between Swede and Dekalb, Mexican Independence Day Festival. Music, dance, authentic Mexican cuisine and much more.

Sunday, 2:30-3:30 pm, Historical Society of Montgomery County (Dekalb and Roberts), Fragile Freedom: A Journey to the 19th Amendment. Using a combination of lecture, poems, and monologues about the women and men who fought for the 19th Amendment which secured women’s right to vote, playwright Christine Emmert takes a personal look at the fight for voting equality. Thursday, 4–6pm, Montgomery County OIC, 1101 Arch St #2, OIC's Fall Open House. Explore OIC's various programs that impact the community: Camp Xtreme, Before/After School Care, Xtreme Learning Center Daycare, Pre-Apprenticeship, GED & Adult Basic Education, English as a Second Language, Computer Skills Training.

Also, for organizations planning events, if you don't want to conflict too much with other events the same day, remember to list yours on the town calendar at Norristown.org EARLY and also to check the same calendar before setting your date in stone to see what else is scheduled that day.
